Today's Outfit

Today's Word Of The Day is Lethargy.  As quoted in the Oxford English Dictionary, "having little energy; feeling unwilling and unable to do anything", this just about sums me up and thus explains my decidedly wan expression.

I did manage a trip into town this morning and even braved Primark but since my return I've retreated to the comfort of fleecy pyjamas, cups of tea and my laptop.  Himself is hung over (and therefore neither use nor ornament) and the babes are thankfully ensconced in front of an Andy Pandy DVD.  The heating is on, a roast chicken is in the oven, wine will be consumed at some point.  The housework can wait.

ancient jersey minidress - Celia Birtwell for Topshop, strappy white vest - H&M, tights - Falke, flats - Gerard Darel, biker - Next, sunnies - Ray Ban

I love the back of this dress although going bra-less is not an option at my advanced years so the bra and vest have to show.

Happy Sundays people x

Today's Outfit

Work has been horrendously busy this week - which is good but results in me feeling pretty frazzled by the end of the week.  No plans for the weekend other than chillaxing with the babes.

I went for comfort today ...

grey jersey minidress - Gap, grey coat - Gap, grey ribbed tights - H&M, Balenciaga rip-off gladiator wedgies - Pied a Terre, moody tan LV scarf

mink leather PS1 rip-off satchel - ASOS.  My current favourite, it seems to "go" with everything

Today's Outfit

Today I'm doing housework, taking Pixie to see the respiratory guy and then this evening out to the flicks with the bestie.

dipped hem jersey dress - Primark, asymmetric wool cardigan - All Saints, opaques - Falke, pirate boots - Next

mens' diving watch - Sekonda, ring - Ibiza market
Also chucked my mink leather satchel on which goes nicely.

Have nice weekends people x

Lederhosen

I love the idea of leather shorts over opaques - I wear my denim cut offs over tights all the time - but I'm thinking that at 37 years old, I may be veering dangerously into mutton territory.  Nevertheless I bought these in Zara today and I'm going to try them in front of my (brutally honest) friends and see what their reactions are.

Obviously, I aspire to look like this in them ...

But fear I may end up resembling an over-excited Austrian ...

Today's Outfit

Friday is my half day at work.  I was in black peg leg trousers and stupidly high heels at work but had to run a couple of errands once I'd finished so I slipped into something more comfortable, to coin a phrase.

skinnies - New Look, marl grey tee - La Redoute, leather biker - Next, navy and white jersey scarf - Zara, pirate boots - Next, mens diving watch - Sekonda

I love these rip off Vivienne Westwood pirate boots - £34 from the kids department at Next

I'm Every Woman

In the last seven days I have:

* made a cottage pie and a chicken and leek pie from scratch.  No mean feat for someone who's speciality for many years was instant SMASH sandwiches
* rediscovered Chanel Rouge Noir nail varnish
* found myself stranded at 2am in the middle of nowhere with nothing but my drunken husband, his drunken friend and a clapped out golf buggy to shelter me from the elements.  To make things even worse, I was stone cold sober
* swept my kitchen floor approximately 8,000 times
* been annoyed by a friend
* marvelled at the colour of Cheryl Cole's face.  I mean it's positively radioactive!
* stood at my daughter's bedroom door and listened to her breathe
* worn high heels that were literally too high to walk in
* realised yet again that my mum is actually fucking amazing
* used the free gift of L'Occitane handcream with this month's InStyle.  Very nice too
* sworn at my camera for being crap
* ordered a moody Louis Vuitton "Sprouse" scarf in grey
* thrown up
* fantasied (at length) about how I would spend the, as yet unclaimed, £113 million Lottery jackpot
* enjoyed quality time with my beloved Crew
* thought "God I can't wait for the kids to go to school".  And then felt really bad about it
* planned to watch This Is England but didn't get around to it
* written my blog

Craving Normality

It's nice to be back.  My darling Pixie-face has been very very ill and we have recently had to spend four days and nights at the Children's Hospital whilst the fabulous staff there worked their magic and made her well again.  The poor angel has severe chronic asthma which is exacerbated by a cough, cold or virus.  It seems that babies always have a snuffle or a cough and my babe is no exception so we feel like we're constantly waiting for the next asthma attack.

This most recent attack was by far the most severe that she's experienced.  She was very poorly and there was talk of admitting her to the ITU Ward and putting her on a ventilator.  Thank god that wasn't necessary and instead she was rigged up to two intravenous drips and kept on the High Dependency Ward.   We were finally allowed to bring her home on the fourth day.  It was an incredibly stressful week for us and the rest of the family.  We didn't see our beloved Peachy for four days, Himself was trying to manage his business (he's a builder) from his iphone and I, of course, had to write-off work for the entire week.  Thankfully I have a great employer and as well as the daily texts asking how the patient was doing, they also arranged for a weekly shop from Waitrose to be delivered to our home.  How thoughtful is that?!

Aside from all this of course, is the trauma and upset that my poor girl has to endure.  I really really hope that she grows out of this.  It's dreadful seeing her so distressed and frightened.

My darling, finally on the road to recovery

So life appears to be back to normal, for the time being at least.  Pixie seems well at present, we've increased her inhalers and are due to see a respiratory specialist this week.  Clearly I've had no time (or inclination if I'm honest) to do any fashion posts although I did go to a party on Friday night with friends and was planning on posting the outfit I wore then.  Intention is a wonderful thing - however, several vodka and orange juice's in, taking a picture of my outfit was absolutely the last thing on my mind so it never happened!

Blurry, drunken and shambolic - but it's the best I can do

This is what I wore:

playsuit from Topshop

worn with a skinny tan belt, super high black leather gladiator sandals, black asymmetric biker, tan leather clutch and lots of gold jewellery.

Happy Monday people x
